Documenting
and Promoting the Legacy of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga
The Jaramogi
Oginga Odinga Foundation, a non-profit organization, was
established in 1995 and compliments the community-based
museum, library and exhibition centre's mission of capturing,
preserving, and exhibiting for present and future scholars
and visitors the history and essence of Jaramogi Oginga
Odinga's life and career and encouraging an understanding,
respect for, and participation in public service.
-
The
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Library actively solicits material
of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, material of major figures
in the struggles of his era or among the Odingas' political
or close personal friends, material of similar figures
of secondary importance when they document significant
aspects of the Jaramogi's initiatives, and material
of the Jaramogi's family.
-
The Jaramogi
Oginga Odinga Library acts a time capsule for documents,
records, and letters relating to the life and times
of Jaramogi Odinga. You will also find audiovisual materials,
campaign memorabilia, and gifts to the Jaramogi and
his family.
-
By sponsoring
programs such as the Memorial Lecture, the Distinguished
Visitors Series, and the International Exchange Programs,
the Foundation is united with the Museum/Library in
a common mission to perpetuate Jaramogi's own vision-that
political and public service is conducted and exemplified
as an honorable and patriotic ideal.
